Every assessment starts with measurement, not guesswork: non-invasive tear break-up time, tear volume, blink analysis, tear osmolarity, and infrared imaging of the meibomian glands. Treatment is then matched to your findings — IPL therapy for inflammatory evaporative dry eye, LipiFlow for blocked glands, BlephEx for blepharitis and lid-margin disease, and Rexon Eye for stubborn or long-standing cases. Tixel and low-level light therapy (LLLT) are also offered for evaporative disease. Not every treatment is available at every practice; your Hamilton practice will confirm what is available locally and refer within the group where needed.

Hamilton has several optometry chains and department-store optical outlets that list “dry eye” among their services. The difference is what happens before treatment. A general practice typically offers drops, a warm-compress leaflet, and perhaps a per-session IPL price. A specialist dry eye clinic starts by measuring: infrared meibography to photograph your oil glands and see how much tissue is left to save, non-invasive tear break-up time, tear osmolarity, and a lid-margin examination for blepharitis and Demodex. Only then is a treatment prescribed — IPL, LipiFlow, BlephEx, Rexon Eye — and, just as often, a plain statement of which treatment is not worth your money.
