IPL, IRPL, LipiFlow — what's the difference?

Bay of Plenty patients ask this constantly. IPL and IRPL are both intense pulsed light — IRPL is a regulated, dry-eye-specific variant — and both treat the inflammatory drivers of evaporative dry eye over a course of sessions. LipiFlow does a different job: it physically warms and expresses blocked glands in one session. Inflamed lids call for light; blocked-but-alive glands call for expression; many people need both, sequenced. Your gland images decide.
